CLARICE MA

In 2007, after graduating university with a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, I was selected by Air Liquide, a multinational company supplying industrial gases and services to various industries, to participate in their prestigious ALLEX (Air Liquide Leading EXcellence) program. This two-year program allowed me to work in several departments and facilities across Canada, thereby learning about multiple facets of the industrial gas business and Air Liquide’s corporate culture. In 2009, after completing their program, I accepted the role of business analyst for the Process Industries division at Air Liquide’s head office in Montreal.

In 2012, seeking new challenges, I entered the world of aviation as Customer Business Advisor in the Business Planning group at Bombardier Business Aircraft. During my time at Bombardier, I developed hundreds of business aircraft fleet planning strategies and business case evaluations for all business aircraft customer segments, including high net worth individuals, corporations and revenue-generators such as charter companies. By performing in-depth customer business models and aircraft operation analysis, I was able to act as a trusted advisor to Bombardier’s current and potential customer base and to recommend aircraft acquisition action plans with the customer’s carefully assessed aviation needs in mind. At the beginning of 2014, I became the Team Lead of the Business Planning group and acted as the mentor to new members of the team while being accountable for day-to-day managerial responsibilities.

In 2015, I elected to return to Air Liquide’s Montreal head office as Business Development Manager. My mandate was to evaluate the Canadian Liquified Natural Gas industry and the potential for Air Liquide to become a player in that market. By the end of 2015 and following such mandate, I accepted a position at Air Liquide’s satellite office in Vancouver, British Columbia, where I became the Business Development Manager for the Pacific region responsible for developing new bulk gas opportunities in the B.C. Market.

I am pleased to be collaborating with Jetorizon Consulting Inc. through the development of business aircraft case evaluations as part of their extended service offering.  I am a graduate of McGill University (Chemical Engineering, 2007) and hold an MBA (2012) from Concordia University. I am fluent in Cantonese, English and French and I am currently taking mandarin lessons at the University of British Columbia.

In 2005 after completing a Bachelor of Laws (LLB), I became a member of the Delhi Bar Association and began my legal career with a leading corporate law firm in Mumbai (India) AZB & Partners (AZB). While at AZB, I worked on various national and international transactions including: foreign direct investment in various sectors in India, due diligence for various M&A's, equipment loan transactions, negotiation of share-purchase agreements and matters related to securities and foreign direct investment compliances.

In 2006, I won a part-scholarship for a Master in Laws (LLM) at McGill University and moved to Montreal for such purpose. The focus of my specialization at McGill was International Aviation Law and Alternate Dispute Resolution at the Institute of Air and Space Law, which is a premiere institute for training in international Aviation Law.

In 2007, I began collaborating with the Environmental Unit of the Air Transport Bureau at the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), for a special project. As part of this mandate, I reviewed all international bilateral agreements between ICAO's member states, to evaluate compliance obligations in relation to ICAO's recommended Standards and Practices. I also drafted working papers for the GIACC initiative, aimed at reducing aviation emissions to combat climate change. My work at ICAO became part of my LLM thesis at McGill.

In 2008, after completing my LLM, I joined the Contracts Management team at Bombardier Aircraft (BBA) for their Global Aircraft product line. As part of the team, I worked on diverse transactions from the inception of the letter of intent to the final delivery of the aircraft. While I worked with clients from all over the world, my special mandate was emerging markets with a focus on India and China. As part of this regional thrust, I led a team to develop a strategy to facilitate BBA's sales in emerging countries and proposed strategies and solutions to comply with regulatory barriers in order to facilitate BBA's expansion in the region.

In 2010, I left Bombardier to work in the public sector, where I have specialized in contract negotiation, drafting and management specific to R&D projects, licensing and commercialization in the aerospace sector in North America. In the past six years, I have worked with various stakeholders in the aerospace industry in Quebec and North America, including federal and provincial government agencies, aerospace consortia and private companies, including OEMs and SMEs.

In late 2016, I had the pleasure of joining the Jetorizon team in order to build upon my previous contractual and legal experiences as well as provide exemplary transactional expertise and creative business solutions to their clients. In addition to my LLM from McGill University, I have a Bachelor's of Arts (BA) in Economics and History and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from a State University in India, from which I received with gold medal distinction at the top of my class. I have a personal passion for languages and speak Hindi (my mother tongue), Punjabi, English, French and recently began tackling German.
